The “why” And “how” Of Wireless Credit Card Processing

December 27th, 2011

More and more people prefer to use credit cards as a mode of payment for the goods and services they acquire, simply because it is safer, easier and more convenient to use. Compared to carrying cash which is at risk of being lost or stolen forever, lost or stolen credit cards can be blocked by the owner and prevent its use by others, and it has a credit limit that the user can borrow to pay merchants or to make a cash advance. And now with wireless credit card processing, consumers can pay for whatever goods and services they have acquired at home or anywhere else for that matter. No wonder credit cards became the most popular purchasing power for consumers.

So how does a small plastic card enable consumers to purchase goods and services? Each credit card contains a magnetic strip or chip that contains relevant information that a credit card processing machine interprets. When a customer uses the credit card, the credit card processing machine establishes a communications link to the merchants acquiring bank, thus is able to send a withdrawal request to the bank, the bank verifies the card that there is enough balance to cover all of his purchases, then the total amount will be deducted from his balance. After the completion of the process, a receipt is issued and the customer needs to sign it as a consent to pay. With credit cards, consumers no longer need to have cash on hand to purchase goods and services.
