...That would simply protect dogs from being fed unsafe food, being administered unsafe dogs and being kept in cages or crates for long period of time.

The HSUS values the special bond that dogs and humans share and as caregivers humans have a responsibility to safeguard them from harm.

It is simply wrong to knowingly feed a companion animal raw meat from a diseased dying or disabled animal. While we cannot always afford to buy the best and most expensive food for our companion animals, it is wrong to feed them food that is dangerously unhealthy.,

There is no reason for caregivers to continually force anabolic steroids on dogs. Steroids are controlled substances and are potentially dangerous. Veterinarians wouldn’t administer these drugs to our companion animals and we shouldn’t allow non-veterinarians to either.

Keeping dogs and other animals in crates or cages all day is unacceptable. Dogs deserve better than that although it’s not possible to provide long walks every day, neither should they be confined to a crate or a cage all day either.

The Humane Society of the United States urges a yes vote on the Tucson Dog Protection Act. It is a common sense measure that will protect dogs by providing the kind of care and compassion that should be afforded all dogs – to eat food that isn’t dangerous, to be kept from doses of harmful drugs and to avoid being kept in a cage all day.
