We wholeheartedly endorse the Tucson Dog Protection Act because all the dogs entrusted to humans deserve humane treatment, care, and attention

These amendments are steps that all citizens can support if we believe in the ethical and humane treatment of dogs. “Man’s Best Friend” must be treated as such with a healthful diet, clean water, access to proper medical care, and good living conditions. These are the basic minimum standards that must be ensured for all dogs. A healthful diet does not come from feeding raw meat from diseased animals. Dogs should eat a diet that offers the nutrition and vitamins that their bodies require for health. Proper medical attention is crucial for dogs to live comfortably without pain or discomfort. Dogs that are ill, injured, or have any type of parasite must be given proper medical attention and by no means should people be administering drugs that can be harmful. When we bring a dog into our lives we must accept the responsibility to do what is best for them…at all times and in all places.

Gandhi said that you can judge a society by how it treats its animals. The people of South Tucson have the opportunity to say “YES!” We care about the dogs in our community and want to ensure that they are treated properly
