I would like to make my case for the Tucson Dog Protection initiative

Everything that I have read that is included in the proposed initiative is totally true and accurate, since being a former trainer at TGP I have firsthand experience and knowledge of how greyhounds are treated on a daily basis.

First of all, turnouts are done as quickly as possible, 20 minutes maximum in the morning and after feeding, less than 20 minutes in the afternoon when it’s very hot and up to 20 minutes in the evening for the last turnout. That comes to a little over an hour out of their crates in a 24 hour period. Secondly the 4D meat fed to the greyhounds on a daily basis is disgusting and only used because it is cheap. Thirdly, the use of anabolic steroids to keep females from going into season is the most disturbing violation of all –trainers with no veterinary experience giving injections to greyhounds without any prescription from any licensed vet.

In closing, I urge everyone who is concerned about the health and welfare of these graceful and truly beautiful animals, please let your voices be heard with a resounding YES vote for the Tucson Dog Protection initiative!!! All dogs including greyhounds deserve to be treated in a respectful and humane manner. Please remember that your yes vote is the greyhounds’ only voice. Thank you very much!
